Using Faux Bois Decor Is Great For Neutral Color Spaces

By Carolyn Baker

When it comes to home decorating, many people underestimate what is visually pleasing until they realize they have created a bland space. Although having a fancy living space does not solve all problems, coming home to a nice visual can make it easier to relax. Adding sometimes simple like stone, faux bois decor, or marble accents are great ways to add a sophisticated look without the price tag.

Going with a line design pattern is usually a safe choice when done sparingly. It is also great for those who may prefer an analogous or monochromatic color scheme. Small lines can add interest that will outlast most interior decor trends, as opposed to something like paisley designs or polka dots.

One reason why this design trend is experiencing a resurgence is due to its simplicity. Adding lines, whether it be a wardrobe or still pieces in a home, can give draw people in with little effort. While this may seem like a big deal, one should think about a space that only has solid colors throughout. Without a pattern or texture, spaces can become monotonous, unless the primary color is bold or vibrant.

While adding accents that match a complementary color is nice, it is not the standard. Many decorators tend to use a focus piece, like a rug, window treatment, or soft furnishing in a contrasting color or pattern. If there are accent pieces to be used, these are generally subtle and spare. In other words, there is no need to have coordinating picture frames throughout a room because the purple color matches the couch.

When choosing items to place in a room, it helps to step outside of a comfort zone. While not every individual will want to place things with bold colors throughout, adding touches of black or white can create a different mood. White not only brightens but tend to make spaces look larger, black can bring a modern touch but has the opposite effect when it comes to space.

This pattern can also be found in a lot of functional objects in a multitude of colors. For those who favor greens, pinks, or red, there are many designers using this with different fabrics and materials. Lampshades, side tables, and storage containers are just some of the ways to add something different to a room.

Anyone who likes to make their own decor from objects to be refurbished will find there are many books and other media that will provide simple instructions. Crafty persons may be able to come up with their own ideas that will also work, including metallics, stone, or unusual colors that make a statement. Line patterns are great for novice crafters, as the pattern should be symmetrical but not necessarily perfect.

Since some line designs can be found on vintage items, the right product may be found at a yard sale or thrift store. For those who want to learn more about home decor should take the time to peruse different sites and learn about emerging designers who have an affinity for retro designs and products. Viewing these sites can inspire the perfect room transformation that combines comfort and a style that catches the eye immediately.
